360|Flex presentation survey results

3 comments Posted by: Laura

360|Flex conferences are well known for their openness and transparency, they even tell you how much they make! In that spirit, speakers at 360|Flex Atlanta started to share their session survey results.

I received my results for 360 San Jose, and I'll share them with you. A lot of people told me during the rest of the conference that they enjoyed the session, so I was hoping to get good numbers in the survey ;)

Back from 360|Flex

It is great to get to see everybody in the Flex community every now and then. As always, we end up spending more time talking in the hallways than attending sessions. I met so many people that I can hardly remember the name of everybody, if we met, please write a comment, so that I can recall :)

Though I couldn't attend to many sessions, this time I'm lucky, because thanks to Adobe's Sessions Project, all the presentations were recorded and they will be available to everybody to see and hear. From the ones I saw, I recommend Tony Hillerson and Juan Sanchez' See the Data, Be the Data. I heard a lot of good things about Labriola's Diving in the Data Binding Waters session, so I look forward to seeing that when it gets published.

Mate at 360Flex San Jose

360Flex has started and we will be there. We arrived to San Jose and now we are waiting for our hotel room in the lobby. Laura is adding the finishing touches to her session about Mate for tomorrow. I need to help her with the example that she will use at the session.

She is planning to show how you can create an application with Mate and how all the parts are assembled together. For this, we created a sample app that allows you to browse movies and make movie recommendations. To skin it and make it look nicer, we are using Degrafa.

SpatialKey: reinventing map visualizations

1 comments Posted by: Nahuel

We've had the pleasure to work with an amazing team in what I think is the next generation of map visualizations.

We are not talking about a few hundred of points on a map, you can see millions of those points. And not only that, but also you can view them as heatmaps, squares, aggregated points and more.

Don't look at my SWC size

2 comments Posted by: Laura

If you want to use a library in your Flex project, distributed as a SWC file, you should not look at the SWC file size as any indication of how much your compiled application will increase in size. If you want to know how much size overhead the library imposes, look at the compiled release version of your app (Click on Export Release Build button). Even then, it will depend on how much of the library you are using.
