Real Estate Sample Application

We are happy to announce that the first part of a series of two articles, "The Real Estate Sample Application - Part 1: Building the Search Functionality", has been published at the Macromedia Developer Center. It's a walk through a Flash Forms sample application that uses Flash Remoting. You can view it running here. Before anyone asks, this is the almost-finished application, so it contains features not explained in the article and downloadable code. You will need to wait until the second part for that.

As always, you are welcomed to comment about it or ask any question here.

Why should a ColdFusion Developer care about Flex 2.0

21 comments Posted by: Nahuel

In my previous post, I made the comment that we'll be doing more Flex 2.0 stuff and less cfforms. It seems that it was a shock for some people. I was going to respond in a comment there, but I realized that it was better to make a new post on that.

Ok, don't panic, guys :) we will be making a smooth transition from cfform to Flex. Flex will ship next summer so we have a lot of time. Also, we are thinking about opening a cfform and Flex forum here at asfusion because we can not handle the amount of email that we get everyday and I believe that the forum will help making the communication better (Quick poll here: what do you think about that?)

MAX 2005

15 comments Posted by: Nahuel

It was a great conference, more than 3000 developers together with Flex Flex Flex. We want to say goodbye to all the people we met at MAX, and we hope to see you all again in the next conference. We finally met Mike Nimer, the person behind the cfforms. He is a very nice person. Thanks Mike ;) We also met a lot of people that we only knew by their blog.

The conference overall was good, with a lot of sessions about Flex and great new stuff. I feel that something big is in the oven. This is the beginning of new platform that has a strong foundation and can rule the Web 2.0 (Ajax, can you hear?). It's something that we've been expecting long time and it finally arrives.

So expect more Flex examples from us and less cfforms. We'll be making a slow transition from cfform to Flex 2.0 :) It will be a very smooth ride.

Macromedia Labs is now online and a new version of our reader is shown in the Showcase Gallery. This time we made the reader with Flex Builder 2.0. It is an amazing tool. You can download it and start playing with it now. To view the examples in the Gallery you just need Flash Player 8.5.

Reader

We'll write a small tour to the application, but Max starts at 8am in the morning, so I better go to sleep.

With the alpha release of Zorn aka Flex Builder 2 and all the talks about Flex I think that we will have a big amount of things to absorb.
