Adobe cares about developers

Macromedia was well known for being able to reach to the developer community. At the time of the merger, people were afraid that Adobe would not be able to maintain Macromedia’s openness towards developers and users of their products.

I think the opposite happened and we started to see more and more Adobe blogs, public betas and community-reaching activities. I think they might be even more open now than Macromedia was, with things like the Adobe Labs, just to give an example.

We have experienced that first hand, at 360Flex, thanks to Ted (and of course the people from Ebay and Yahoo!) and also by receiving an unexpected gift from Mike Potter on behalf of Adobe, the ActionScript 3 Cookbook by Joe Lott. So thank you both for a great conference and a great gift!

I'll second that. In my book Adobe has gone above and beyond. They're creating a great developer community. My thanks as well for the gift.

I'll chime in as well. As a Linux geek and coldfusion/flash developer, I was REALLY irritated that there wasn't a flash player for linux. After several passionate emails from myself and a few thousand of my colleagues, Adobe assigned several developers to the chore and now I can enjoy flash 9 on my linux desktop at work. I'm happy to say that they pay attention to their customers. Good Job Adobe!

I'll go a little farther and say that I think Adobe may have another "PhotoShop" on their hands in many of their other products. This first Adobe release of Coldfusion along with the release and integration of Flex 2 and Ajax, I strongly believe will revolutionize the Internet as we've come to know it. I'm happy to be along for the ride and trying to learn as much as possible while all this is still in it's infancy. :-)

Anyway, that's just my 2 cents. Buckle up, it's gonna be great ride.

It's great to see what Adobe is doing with Flash, Flex, ColdFusion and the other products it brought on from Macromedia. I was never thrilled with Acrobat or Photoshop so I was concerned with the take over. It's great see what's going on especially with Flex and CF 8.

Yep Ill add to that. They have been great, and its the little things that count, especially when you work with a platform 8hrs+ a day, its a big part of your life and its nice to have!
