Macromedia Labs is live

Macromedia Labs is now online and a new version of our reader is shown in the Showcase Gallery. This time we made the reader with Flex Builder 2.0. It is an amazing tool. You can download it and start playing with it now. To view the examples in the Gallery you just need Flash Player 8.5.

Reader

We'll write a small tour to the application, but Max starts at 8am in the morning, so I better go to sleep.

Amazing... Btw Nahuel, could you share a bit on your MAX trip here? Disappointed that MM only publish the webcast for those MAX registered :(

Too bad I'm living in the other side of the world otherwise I will definitely be there.
Nahuel
Right now the code is not clean and also the app is not finished. But we are thinking about sharing the code in the future. For now, we'll be posting simpler examples.

Can anyone verify that there is no Flash Remoting in Flex 2?

If there is, plz let me know how to use it cause the way that it was done with CF doesnt work for me

I believe Flex2 uses a newer version of remoting that CF doesn't not yet support.

Nahuel, Any chance you'll change the list on the right to be more fluid? There are many feed entries that are longer than the alotted space. It is also hard to read and scroll at the same time since the layout is static. I've used your MXNA and now Reader on nearly a daily basis. What are the statistics for usage of these apps? Thanks for your cool tools!
Nahuel
Fernando,
Remoting works with Flex 2.0 but you need to install the cf Adapter.

Daniel,
Yes, that was my first idea but the DataGrid has a bug. I will try to make a workaround or wait for a fix. I don't know the statistics because we don't require registration to use it. But it's good to hear that you are using the reader.

Late to the party, but wanted to say the reader is awesome.

One question i have is will it be possible to deploy some of these flex app on the desktop?

Nahuel,

Having some issues with the reader... it doesn't seem to be displaying on my system. It's almost as though it doesn't want to load. Tried 2 other computers as well, and the same issue comes up.

Any clues or things I can check out?

Could it be a platform problem? It loads on my PC using IE, but not on my Mac using Safari or Firefox.
Justin Kozuch
Hmmm.... Doesn't load in either IE or FFox.

and me, too!

Hello guys,
At this point, everybody will have problems running this app as it was compiled using a very early alpha version of Flex 2. Until we update it for the release version, it will not work, unless you still have that particular Alpha Flash player.
