Speaking at Flash Forward Seattle

6 comments Posted by: Laura

Flash Forward is a three-day conference and international film festival. Flash Forward 2006 will be held in Seattle, Washington for the first time and will focus on the Flash Platform. We have attended this conference several times, as attendees and award nominees, but this is the first time we go as speakers. It will be fun! We will be talking about Flex 2, ColdFusion Flash forms and Flash Remoting. We hope to see you there!

Our session:

RIA development with ColdFusion, Flex 2, and CFForms

This session introduces ColdFusion as a building block for creating Rich Internet Applications using Flex 2 and ColdFusion-generated Flash® Forms. Laura and Nahuel will discuss Flash Remoting and how to use the new CF Adapter to communicate between Flash and the server, as well as how to create the necessary ColdFusion components that handle the requests. Learn the differences between ColdFusion Flash Forms and Flex 2, as well as how to best apply each to suit your needs.

Dear Laura & Nathuel,

This is very exciting and wish that I could attend these conferences. Unfortunately residing in South Africa makes attending these important conferences difficult at best.

How would I get to documentation ,video or even audio of your presenations please.

We are eagerly awaiting your response

Ever since you started your articles on Flash Remoting in Coldfusion I've wanted to try it but I was afraid of the depreciated nature of the method you use to accomplish it. Since your blog has shown us all how powerful it can be and how it saves you from refreshing the whole page, do you think Macromedia will remove the "depreciated" nature of the netservices class or create a "legitimate" method? Will Flex 2 solve that problem? I am afraid of using it in a production environment and then two years from now have to re-write the whole thing.

Phillipe,

This is not just great news, its what Im been waiting for. I can thank you enough for this gem of information.

I have a question please. When when a listener is fired and the result is returned from the server for example:"

It returns both the ID key and the description to popultate a comboBox or listBox. tThe dataProvider populates the comboBox or listBox as a string

eg: 123, Peter using remoting

how ever if I populate it with without remoting when the flashform complies then the comboBox populates correctly where the ID key is the index and the name Peter etc is in the list.

Been new to AS2 how do I take the result from the request call and manipulate the array before sending it to the listPeople.dataProvider = results;

Thank again for the post
